Does anyone know anything about Musky in either Little or Big Bay de Noc? I recently saw someone throwing oversized baits and figure 8'ing after his retrieve.

I know this is a late post on the topic but I can't help myself so I have to ask........Pepin, what did the boat look like and where did you see them? There are some fish but they are so few and far between and gas is sooooo expensive. All the catches I've heard of North of the Ford river have been accidental.

It was in August or September in Nahma. I don't remember the boat but do remember only one fisherman in the boat.

I've got a grey a white 20 ft cuddy. I'm sure it was me. I'd like to say that I'm catching fish out there but I'm not. There are some nice places to fish that I know will someday hold some north migrators. Nice smallies and pike, but no ski's yet. Hmmmm. Not sure why it says I'm a new member to the club, I'm not, but I probably should join.

That sounds like the boat, thanks for the information. We have a place in Nahma and my parents live in Gladstone, so I fish a lot in the area, but I normally go fishing in some inland lakes for musky. Maybe some day I won't have to leave the bays to satisfy my obsession.

It would be nice, and beneficial to the tourism industry here as well as the North Lake Michigan ecosystem as a whole, if the MDNR would follow in the footsteps of the WDNR and start stocking spotted muskies in the Bays de Nocs. I've had several conversations with fish managers about this very issue. It will take some ground pounding to do it but I think the bug has already been planted and one day we will see some muskie stocking in the bays. In the meantime, we can only hope that more strays will begin to show and spawn in the area and take root. Good luck and post your results if successful, even if you got a drop me a PM, I'll do the same.

In rgards to stocking the bays with spotted musky?
why on earth would Mich. want to stock musky in the bays.
your hotels/ motels would have people in them for fishing season full of wierd people who want to spend tons of money on bait, tackle, nets, hand warmers, fuel, boats, trolling gear , rods , food , adult and pre adult beverages.
spend more money on hot tubs and ice hot for sore muscles.
maps, gps/fishfinders,gps chips, radios and maybe even join a musky club.
after all this time and money spent they will someday catch huge muskys of 50" plus and low and behold, they will then let the darn thing go.!!!!!!!!
who would want to go to all this trouble ??????????????????
hopefully the MI DNR with the help of the Boundary Waters Musky Club!!!!!!! i hope it is one of our goals.
