February and Annual Meeting 2010

The Annual meeting of the Boundary Waters Musky Club was held on February 20th at the America’s Best Inn in Iron Mountain.
Members in attendance were Randy Pearson, Dave Wineburner, Danny Lazzeroni, Benji Wood, Steve Kircher, Fred Janick, Scott Otte and Austin, Robbie Rottier, Mark Rottier, Paul and Diane Krush, Casey McCormick and Will McCormick, Ben Mattson, Howie Marcotte, Chip Bottrell, Ron Winski, Kevin Pepin, Rick Gatien, Kenny Giuliani, Corey Borchardt, Sally Wineburner, Jacob Conery and Liz Coonrod, Larry and Lynette Lorenz
Secretaries Report: The minutes from the last meeting were read and a motion was made to accept the minutes by Kevin Pepin and seconded by Danny Lazzeroni. Motion carried.
Treasurers Report: Dave Wineburner gave a yearly summary of deposits/payments from the checking for 2009. There is currently $1751 after expenditures for February. Motion to accept treasurer report by Paul Krush, seconded by Casey McCormick. Motion carried. Discussion was had regarding marking funds for fish planting – DNR not supporting planting at this time. Discussion was also had regarding upgrading launches with solar lights/fixing piers. We will continue to discuss formatting a budget for projects/planting.
Committee Reports: Kenny - thanks for the website updating/etc – please send anything for website to Kenny and he will add to website for us! Fish contest - we will be trying to establish a photo album on the website. Outings: 05/15/10 - Iron County
06/12/10 – Badwater/Twin Falls
Sept – Green Bay (exact date after 2010 GB schedule)
10/09 & 10/10/10 – Forest County
11/06 & 11/07/10 - Brule River
Old Business: 48” musky donated by MI DNR brought to Lax to be mounted for club - will use for educational purposes – hung at WI welcome center/pocket park @ UP State Fair? Reminder that we will be selling Ranger Boat raffle tickets in Crivitz on Friday 06/04/10 (evening) and Saturday 06/05/10.
New Business: Benji Wood held discussion regarding club direction/planning priorities 1) stocking 2) habitat improvement 3) education. Club awards for 2009 season: New Masters: Robbie Rottier, Benji Wood, Casey McCormick. Men’s Open Winner - Robbie Rottier. Youth - Anthony Rottier, Will McCormick. Women’s - Lynette Lorenz Congrats to all! Thanks you also to 734 Lumber and Kenny for the plaques. BWMC will continue to offer $500 toward a replica for the largest fish >=50” caught during a club outing. Winner of the 2009 rod for the most inches caught during club outings was Danny Lazzeroni – congrats. Dave Wineburner presented the 1st annual Lloyd Wineburner Angler of the Year Award to Randy Pearson. Thanks Randy for your dedication to getting the club going and sacrifices you make on a continuing effort for the club.
Election of Officers for 2010: nominees for President - Randy Pearson - Unanimous nomination passed all in favor.
Vice President - Benji Wood - Unanimous nomination passed all in favor
Treasurer - Dave Wineburner - Unanimous nomination passed all in favor. Secretary - Lynette Lorenz - Unanimous nomination passed all in favor. Larry and Lynette Lorenz have agreed to become Merchandise Chairman. Randy Pearson will continue to be the release contest chairman.
Next Meeting will be held on Saturday, March 13th at 5pm at America’s Best Inn in Iron Mountain.
